Biodiversity Value & Market Report

What could your land produce in biodiversity credits, and is there a buyer for them? An early, plain-English read before you spend on a full assessment.

Inside the report

Six questions, answered for your land

Panels from a de-identified sample report. Figures are for one NSW property and are indicative.

What grows on your land: panel from a sample report

01

What grows on your land

Every plant community type mapped on the lot, its area, and whether it is an endangered ecological community. Only mapped native vegetation counts toward the estimate.

What a credit is actually worth: panel from a sample report

02

What a credit is actually worth

There is no single price. For each trading group on your land, the report reads the Biodiversity Conservation Fund charge, a generic estimate, recorded sales and the last recorded sale.

Whether there is a buyer: panel from a sample report

03

Whether there is a buyer

Demand set against the credits already listed for sale, split by how firm each buyer is. A paper buyer and a funded one are not the same thing.

Where the value sits: panel from a sample report

04

Where the value sits

An indicative credit value range for your land, and which vegetation drives it, priced to the demand position of each trading group.

Whether a stewardship agreement looks viable: panel from a sample report

05

Whether a stewardship agreement looks viable

A viability score where the land qualifies to be scored, with the ecological context reported either way.

What happens next: panel from a sample report

06

What happens next

The path from this screening report to a credit sale, and the questions to ask an accredited assessor before you commit.

Be clear on this

What it is not

It is a preliminary screening tool, and the figures are indicative.

The credits a site can actually sell are set by a Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM) assessment, carried out by an accredited assessor. This report helps you decide whether that step is worth paying for.

It is not legal or financial advice.

Before you pay

Not every property qualifies

The report needs native vegetation that trades in the NSW biodiversity credit market.

If your land has none, we will tell you before you pay.

How it works

  1. 1

    Tell us about the property

Where it is, and what you would like to know.

  2. 2

    We check it qualifies

Whether the land has vegetation that trades in the credit market.

  3. 3

    We confirm scope and price

    Before anything is ordered.

  4. 4

    You decide

Order the report, or not. No obligation either way.

Advisers

Accountants and advisers whose clients ask what their bushland is worth to the credit market.

Common questions

What is the Biodiversity Value & Market Report?

A desktop screening report on a NSW property. It maps the native vegetation and plant community types on the land, reads what similar biodiversity credits have sold for and whether buyers are seeking them, and gives an indicative credit value range.

Is it a Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM) assessment?

No. It is a preliminary screening tool. The credits a site can actually sell are set by a BAM assessment carried out by an accredited assessor. The report helps you decide whether that step is worth paying for.

Does every property qualify?

No. The report needs native vegetation that trades in the NSW biodiversity credit market. If your land has none, we will tell you before you pay.

How much does it cost?

Early reports are scoped one property at a time. We confirm the scope and price with you before anything is ordered.

Who prepares the report?

MapCheck (Map Check Pty Ltd), NSW property intelligence built from 140+ government datasets across 128 LGAs.
